You told me all the things a girl would want to hear, all the pretty words you'd whisper in my ear. Made all kinds of promises of castles in the sky, talk about forever like it was an alibi. When I needed more you sealed it with a ring, took it as a chore and gave me everything. A ring without the paper is like a race without an end. Can't be on your layaway, Can't just be your friend. Don't put me on no layaway, no back up I'll be. If you can't see forever then just set me free. Can't get used to silver when my eyes are on the gold, our past is our story- let our love unfold. Don't tell me of tomorrow, when you can't commit today, forever is always for you just a day away. No Layaway,

Blind to Success, can't see the vision, can't grasp happiness. So many years of trying, to exchange time for love, when inside I was only dying and praying to God above. Miss one note and it changes the beat, Miss an important day and it changes the memory, making a second the difference between a win or defeat. A look that met your eyes could have been a look that was never realized, a tick or tock to live or die, I'm finding that it's all in the timing. ©

I Know Me
I know ME. I may not know everything about you but I do know me. From every silk strand of hair, with its own mute expression to each pimple and tear that I wear with its own routes of confession. Each blemish owns a stage, it's all a part of my story. Far more than your eyes can see but I do know me. My skin has weathered storms without forecast, my eyes have seen reality masked in bows, unraveled into highs and lows, so much no body knows. Friends turned to foes, guess that's just how it goes. I don't need validation nor approval, I don't need your sympathy nor think it's cruel. I've found strength and power to love myself beyond the sour. I know me and like who I have come to be.
